POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
APPOINTMENT: 9-Month Position, Starting August 2011
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A terminal degree
from an accredited institution and teaching, scholarly, or
professional experience in security is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful applicant may
be required to teach Law Enforcement and Justice Administration
undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned. Applicant should
also demonstrate an understanding of the application of
technology to enhance learning. Other duties assigned as
required by the Director of LEJA.
RANK & SALARY: Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
THE DEPARTMENT: The School of Law
Enforcement and Justice Administration at Western Illinois
University is internationally known for academic excellence. The
School of LEJA is comprised of 35-plus faculty members, ranks
among the top law enforcement programs nationally. As the
largest department at WIU, there are more than 1800
undergraduate and 70 graduate students pursuing degrees. We
offer our students a rich blend of theoretical administrative
and practical knowledge as well as teach valuable research
skills. Those who have earned the degree occupy positions of
responsibility across the United States and in several foreign
countries.
At WIU, one can receive a Bachelor of Science
and/or a Master of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Justice
Administration. A Police Executive Certificate is also available
to post-graduate students and is designed to prepare future law
enforcement executives and current executives for the future. We
also offer to undergraduate students the option of acquiring a
minor in security administration, fire administration, and, in
conjunction with the Department of Chemistry, forensic chemistry

The University Libraries contain more than 1
million cataloged volumes, 20,000 current periodicals, and
access to over 100 electronic databases of information. WIU's
librarians answer approximately 10,000 research questions per
year. The library system encompasses the main Malpass Library
and four branch libraries. The Physical Sciences Library, the
Music Library, the Curriculum Library, and the Quad Cities
campus library are integral parts of the University's system
that provides full service to students, faculty, and staff.
